When you think of Denver landmarks, what comes to mind? The Big Blue Bear outside the Convention Center? Sports Authority Field? Union Station? When it comes to designer, owner, and CEO of Capitol Brand Clothing’s Michael DeHerrera, the first thing he thought of was the CAPITOL BUILDING. One of the most memorable and significant landmarks in the city is the basis of the logo for his line of urban street wear.
Recently, the demand for similar brand images like Crooks and Castles, Obey, and many others has been on the rise in the Denver fashion scene. So finally, DeHerrera thought to himself, “I’ve been buying and wearing this sort of stuff for years now, so why not make my own?”. With a background in graphic design from Denver’s very own Art Institute, he got to work and made various styles of the simplistic icon until he found exactly what he was looking for. This image is now printed on 3 different designs of t-shirts and tanks and he is in the process of many more to come in the future.
I myself as a member of the RFLX 5280 team am super excited to see what kind of fashionable designs Mr. DeHerrera brings to the table in the near future, and you should be too! Capitol Brand is on almost all platforms of social media; with Facebook, Instagram, AND Twitter, so you too can stay tuned for what’s coming next! He has even established a following of brand-specific hash tags so you can help Michael #BRANDTHECITY and be a part of the Capitol brand movement.
The moral of the story is, you should definitely check out his website, www.capitol-brand.com, like them on Facebook, follow them on Instagram and Twitter, and support your local designers!
