The menswear favorite returned to the runway after a 7 year break from the frenzy that is New York Fashion Week. by Bryanne Mitchell
Structured wool, dyed leather, and industrial finishes punctuated the Fall RTW 2013 Kenneth Cole Collection. After 7 years of focusing on the mall rat, the designer stepped back into the spotlight with a luxury collection to rave about. Of course, he paid equal attention to men’s and women’s apparel, which requires a well-studied glimpse into buying trends ( a 7 year-long glimpse to be exact).
The ridiculously wearable line is also equally fashion forward, with boxy shapes and layered textures taking the spotlight. I really like that the collection doesn’t shy away from the menswear trends. The women’s line has punchy, masculine power but still achieves a feminine softness. The best part is that each look can easily be recreated on a thrift store budget. My Fall fashion shopping list just got a little longer.
